Home & Office Removals

Moving back to Turkey from Denmark, or starting a new life in Denmark? LUNVAX moves your household and office belongings door to door, with our own team and our own fleet of vehicles. We also handle the customs declarations for your move. In Denmark, the departure notice comes before you leave, not after – so it belongs in your plan from day one.

Leaving Denmark: Notify Your Kommune Before You Go

If you have an address in Denmark and you're moving abroad for more than six months, you must report the move to your kommune (municipality). Borger.dk, Denmark's official citizen portal, is clear that this has to happen before you leave the country. You make the notice online. If you don't know your new address abroad yet, you can add it later.

Put the notice and the loading day in the same calendar. With the notice done before your furniture is loaded, the last few days are left for the move itself. A document showing the change in your registration can also be useful when you apply to the Turkish consulate for your ikamet nakil belgesi.

Returning to Turkey: Mind the Six-Month Window

To bring used household goods into Turkey free of customs duty, you need to have lived abroad for at least 24 months. According to Turkey's Ministry of Trade (Ticaret Bakanlığı), spending less than six months a year in Turkey during that time doesn't break the period, but that time in Turkey doesn't count towards the 24 months either — except that stays in Turkey of up to 45 days are counted as time abroad. Timing matters just as much: your goods must arrive with you, before you, or within six months after you arrive, and be declared at customs.

In practice, if more than six months pass after you settle in Turkey, you may miss the exemption. Turkish customs asks for three things:

  • The ikamet nakil belgesi (residence transfer certificate), issued by the Turkish mission you're registered with
  • A vukuatlı nüfus kayıt örneği (full civil registry record)
  • A list of your goods, attached to the sözlü beyan formu (customs declaration form)

Consulate appointments are booked at konsolosluk.gov.tr.

Moving from Turkey to Denmark: Toldstyrelsen's Conditions

Relocating from Turkey to Denmark? You can bring your personal belongings without paying Danish customs duty or VAT if you meet the conditions set by Toldstyrelsen, the Danish Customs Agency:

  • You have lived outside the European Union for at least 12 consecutive months
  • Your goods arrive no earlier than six months before you move to Denmark
  • Your goods arrive no later than 12 months after you move
  • You don't lend, pledge or hire out the goods during the first 12 months

If you do lend, pledge or hire them out within those 12 months, duty and VAT become payable. Toldstyrelsen uses a declaration of personal property form for this, and you'll find the current version on toldst.dk. We handle the customs declaration for your move and tell you what we need from you.

The official information on this page is based on guidance published by the authorities named and is for general information only. Rules can change, so please check the current version with the relevant authority before you apply.

What We Move from Denmark

From a flat in Aarhus or a small office in Copenhagen, the same team does the job:

  • Sofas, beds, wardrobes, dining tables and chairs
  • White goods and boxed kitchenware
  • Office desks, filing cabinets, computers and printers

We don't offer packing, so your boxes and wrapped furniture need to be ready on moving day. A room-by-room list of your items works twice: for your quote and for customs.
